Meet the MK30

  • Flies up to 7.5 miles from our delivery center
  • Cruises at 60+ MPH
  • Operates in temperatures below freezing and above 110°F
  • 100% electric with zero exhaust emissions
  • Capable of flying in light rain
  • Perceived sound comparable to a residential HVAC unit
Detect & Avoid Technology
Not just a feature. The foundation of how we fly.

Real-time obstacle detection

Using a combination of cameras and advanced sensors, the MK30 scans its environment to identify potential obstacles such as people, pets, vehicles, trees, power lines, and other aircraft.

Safety-first collision avoidance

If the drone detects an obstacle in its path, it automatically adjusts. If it detects a hazard at the delivery location, it will not deliver, and will return to the Prime Air drone delivery center.

Precision from launch to landing
Our drone is designed to fly and deliver safely. Our flight planning systems continually ingest data to maintain real-time awareness of safe flight profiles.

In the air, the MK30 navigates highly autonomously along its planned route while continuously monitoring conditions.

Trained flight monitors oversee operations from the ground to ensure safety and compliance at all times.

Delivered safely
During a drone delivery, safety always comes first.

The MK30 descends to 13 feet above the selected delivery point and scans the area for obstacles. The drone does not touch the ground.

The drone assesses the area and may return to base if a person is too close, a pet is nearby, or an unexpected object is detected.
Every Prime Air drone is 100% electric, producing zero exhaust emissions during flight. Drone delivery is part of Amazon’s commitment to reach net-zero carbon by 2040.
The latest in Prime Air technology
Technology
Proving the safety of our new MK30 required creating—and acing—a battery of tests.
Technology
Prime Air’s advanced safety systems are built to safely land in the event of severe weather, unexpected events, and more to protect people, pets, and property.
We build our services with privacy protections from the ground up.

Our drones use cameras and other sensors to navigate, sense and avoid obstacles, and safely deliver packages. They help the drone see where it’s going and operate autonomously.

The onboard cameras exist for the drone’s navigation — they are not viewed live or monitored by any person.

Data collected during a delivery is used only for safety purposes and to improve the customer experience.
Prime Air is redefining ultra-fast delivery.

We’re pioneering a highly autonomous, ultra-fast drone delivery system designed to bring lightweight packages to homes worldwide.

Building something this ambitious takes a wide range of talent — from aviation engineering and drone maintenance to flight operations, health and safety, and project management.
